Two sisters, one shared mission: giving parents and babies maximum freedom, together.
Sisters, mothers, and designers, Gesine and Elisabeth Hillmann know the baby world inside and out. With Flybaby, they’ve poured their expertise into a carrier they designed themselves - one that’s ultra-lightweight, keeps parents mobile, and lets babies enjoy close, comforting contact. Their goal? To bring together two seemingly opposing needs: parents’ freedom and babies’ desire to be carried as often as possible.

“We’re both constantly on the go and wanted a lightweight carrier that offered ergonomic support, ease of use, and a compact size, all without adding extra weight,” explains Gesine. When they realised such a carrier didn’t exist, they took matters into their own hands.
With a combined 24 years of experience in product design, production, and the baby industry, Gesine and Elisabeth developed the Flybaby carrier. An ultra-lightweight, innovative product crafted using cutting-edge technologies. “It had to be functional, sustainably produced, and feature a unisex design so that we and our partners would feel comfortable using it,” adds Elisabeth.
Launched in Germany, Flybaby is now distributing to global markets and continuing to expand, bringing its innovative carrier to families around the world. The recyclable carrier is designed according to the Cradle-to-Cradle principle, ensuring well-being for both baby and planet. Certified for health, safety, and hip-friendliness, it reflects one priority above all: taking care of the future and well-being of our children.

All Flybaby carrier ideas and designs are developed in our studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg, where we’re constantly innovating to make our products even better.
Design & Test
We develop and refine every concept and design ourselves - testing and optimising with certified babywearing consultants until we’re completely satisfied, so you can be too.
Production
We maintain a close, trusting relationship with our producers, staying in constant contact and regularly visiting the production site to oversee quality and test new ideas.
The first baby carrier made of 3D knit
Our Flybaby carrier is crafted with innovative 3D knitting technology, combining precision & design, with expert manufacturing. Weighing just 425 grams, it’s incredibly lightweight, and yet exceptionally strong and durable. Flexible, thoughtfully designed zones make it highly ergonomic, providing optimal support for both parent and child, no matter their shape or size.
Thanks to innovative 3D knitting technology, the Flybaby carrier is crafted in a single piece, only the buckles are attached eliminating bothersome seams. This environmentally friendly production method generates almost no waste, reduces production time, and minimizes errors. Designed for durability, the carrier can be passed down from one child to the next. Made from OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified recycled polyester, it’s highly elastic, resistant to tears and abrasion, wrinkle-free, easy to clean, and absorbs very little moisture, ensuring long-lasting comfort and performance for both parent and baby.

The Flybaby carrier meets the highest safety standards. Its yarn is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified, and the Hip Dysplasia Institute has approved its hip-friendly design, so you can carry your baby with confidence and peace of mind.
The EN 13209-2:2016 standard ensures the highest level of safety, covering everything from leg openings and fastening systems to the prevention of small parts being swallowed. The Flybaby carrier was designed and rigorously tested with these standards in mind, so you can carry your baby with complete confidence.
The recycled yarn used in the Flybaby carrier is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 Class 1 certified, ensuring it’s completely safe for babies. This rigorous certification tests materials for over 100 harmful substances, including banned dyes, formaldehyde, and nickel, and even evaluates chemicals not yet legally regulated. Criteria are updated annually to reflect the latest scientific research and safety standards, so you can trust your baby is in safe, healthy hands.
OEKO-TEX® organises products into classes 1 through 4, with Class 1 having the strictest limits and requirements. This category covers products for babies and children, which undergo particularly thorough testing to ensure maximum safety and suitability for the little ones.
The International Hip Dysplasia Institute (IHDI) in the United States recognizes ergonomic baby products that promote healthy hip development. In the first year of life, it’s essential that the femoral head is correctly positioned in the acetabulum, as these primarily cartilaginous structures gradually develop into bone. By awarding the Flybaby carrier, the IHDI confirms that it provides optimal support for your baby’s healthy hip development

Sustainability, conscious consumption, and responsible action aren’t just principles for us, they’re our passion. By focusing on durable products with premium, timeless design, we aim to make a positive impact on the world.
We love our planet. That’s why we use an environmentally friendly production process that generates virtually no textile waste and avoids harmful adhesives. Each carrier can be easily disassembled into its individual components, making recycling simple and efficient.
When choosing our production partners, we prioritise their use of renewable energy. For example, our Austrian partner has developed geothermal resources for heating, relies on photovoltaics and wind power for electricity, and since 2017 has even generated surplus hydroelectric power that is fed back into the grid.
Our Flybaby carrier is made from 100% recycled polyester. By avoiding mixed fibers or rigid compounds, it can be fully returned to the recycling cycle at the end of its life. This “cradle-to-cradle” approach, free from adhesives and harmful materials - ensures the carrier is safe for your child and gentle on the environment.
